ASU Certainties:
Boone. The kid can flat out score and will have the green light this season from John Brady.
Boone led the Red Wolves in both free throws and three pointers made and attempted, displaying his inside/outside scoring ability. He is the unquestioned go to guy for ASU and should improve upon his already impressive numbers in his senior season.
ASU Questions:
Everyone else.
Certainly not a knock… ASU returns five players who averaged better than 3.5 points per game last season and they add two redshirts and a very solid recruiting class. But last year’s supporting cast lacked consistency.
Much was expected of JeJuan Brown, who only put up very pedestrian numbers last season. A step up from him, Bryant, and athletic forward Jeremy Thomas (6’5” 205 Jr.) would make Arkansas State very formidable.
A Nice Luxury Would Be:
If one player can lock down the point guard position. Brady has about seven players capable of handling the ball…but no one proven at actually running a D-1 team.
Transfer Rashad Allison posted stellar numbers at the JUCO level and will probably get first crack at the position. He will get plenty of competition, particularly from redshirt Trey Finn (6’2” 205 Fr.) and recruit Brandon Reed (6’3” 180 Fr.).
This Team Is Special If…:
Adams is Big 12 good.
Martavious Adams was highly touted when he signed at OSU, and he was able to contribute in 30 games as a true freshman for the Pokes. With his size and pedigree, Adams has the potential to be a dominant force in the guard-centric SBC, and paired with Boone would form the best inside/outside combo in the conference.
